Taipei, Taiwan, Oct. 15, 2008 – We are pleased to announce that high-density of 2U-12 bay and 3U-16 bay SAS expander enclosures for scalable storage expansion are now available. Both of Netstor’s NS320S-8020 and NS330S-8020 SAS JBOD enclosures are built-in a high reliable SAS expander with most comprehensive compatibility for storage expansion and allowing configuration Raid function protection from Host SAS Raid system or SAS Raid control card by only one miniSAS cable connectivity. Moreover, the enclosures are provided extra two miniSAS connectors for next SAS Expander enclosure cascaded up to 128 Disks.
Superior Enclosure Management  Since SAS specification allows to daisy chain 128 Disks through SAS expander JBOD, how to manage that kind of mass storages become very important. Netstor’s SAS expander enclosure is backplane design and supports SGPIO feature(Serial General Purpose Input/Output) for efficient fault/activity LED management and for sensing hard drive locate status. While any hard drive fails, enclosure will receive the information from host by SES2 signal and point the failure drive out by lighting the red LED through SGPIO. It will prevent from the “Hot Swap” wrong drive to cause the loss data.
