Taipei, Taiwan, April 25, 2012-Video editing professionals engaging in post-production with DaVinci Resolve need to have multiple computers with essential PCIe cards such as GPUs, Red Rocket™ cards, RAID card, and other PCIe cards for video production. This means that the more computers that are applied to video editing, the more sets of equipment/PCIe cards are needed to be invested. Furthermore, if video editors tried to apply only one set of essential PCIe cards to multiple computers by swapping them between the hosts, the frequent actions of opening/closing the computer cases and taking in/out the PCIe cards between computers tend to be tedious and risky.
One of the success stories about solving the above issues has been a French stereoscopic video production company, Sysmic Films, which has been applying Netstor’s I/O expansion solution, the external PCIe(ePCIe) expansion chassis NA250A, for video editing. The challenges to the French firm’s application are that the whole set of the required Two(2) GPUs, Two(2) Red Rockets, One(1) eSATA and FireWire adapter card can all be externally linked to different computers across different platforms of Windows and Mac via the expansion chassis. As soon as the extra Netstor host cards are pre-installed in different computers, it is able to quickly switch the whole set of the equipment across platforms. What's more, the solution also lets Sysmic Films save a large amount of money on equipment investment.
